RIVER OF LOVE

© 2009 Matthew Checker

Born to be
in a colourful motion
Plain to see
There’s no time for commotion

When you gaze at the clouds you feel the now
While the water divides beneath the bow

Ever been on the river of love, come on down
Sail along the river of love, come on down
Sail along the river

Green and gold
With the sunset approaching
Toucan calls
From the tree-top a coaxing

With the splash of a fish to catch your eye
There’s a flash of a wish to try to fly

Ever been on the river of love, come on down
Sail along the river of love, come on down
Sail along the river of love, come on down
Sail along the river of love, come on down
Sail along the river

Ba ba badap badap ba ba…

Born to be
in a colourful motion
Plain to see
There’s no time for commotion
Once you’ve been there you need to sing and shout
Cos you know what the fuss is all about

Ever been………..

ABOUT RIVER OF LOVE

During and shortly after my university years, where I was fortunate enough to study ecology, I was given the amazing opportunity  to take part in some ornithological expeditions to Central and South America. Two of these were in Ecuador where we tried to establish which of the remaining areas of a very threatened forest type (Ecuadorian dry forest) should be considered for conservation efforts. In these deciduous forests (leaves are shed in the dry season) there are many equally threatened species of plants, birds and animals which exist nowhere else.

…..I am getting sidetracked, for that is another story (see About Matt Checker). I was deeply fascinated by this and other natural habitats I saw in Ecuador and the Amazonian area with its colours, sounds and extraordinary diversity was of course no exception. River of Love came out of my memories of the boat journey up one of the tributaries of the great Amazon River. Macaws, howler monkeys, sunlight glittering on the water – it was simply delicious!

Sail away
The rope’s untied and the ship moves forth in the summer breeze
Far away
The memory fades of  a broken picture but your winning smile remains today

You’ve loosed your arrow to the wind
Time to put my mind at rest and my soul at ease
No turning back the clock
No turning back, so

Sail on
Somethings have to be
Cry of a gull
The glistening of the silver waves brings harmony
To know you is to be one flame

Sail Away……

And now I sing this song in the rain
Simply means that I can rise once again
No turning back the clock
No turning back the clock
Linking lives as one
Joining souls as one, so

Sail on
Somethings have to be
Cry of a gull
The whispering of the silver sands brings harmony
To know you is to be one flame
To know you is to be one flame
To know you is to be one flame

ABOUT SAIL AWAY

One of my few sad songs!  It's not that I'm never sad; I just don't get in the mood for creating music when I am!  I didn't even feel sad when I wrote this. I just felt like doing that kind of song, sat down and tried to create a kind of vibe.  I know a lot of songwriters  claim they are taken by their mood when the impulse arises to write, but I wonder how many of them have actually tried  to  decide which kind of mood they want to create i.e. the other way around.

Losing a loved one through death or separation – a partner, friend or family member, is always very painful and needs time to heal. It may help to direct our memories to the beautiful moments we had with that person. Then we can relive the happiness and be thankful for the enrichment in our lives. In this way we may feel more peaceful and centred.

INNER REVOLUTION

Warming warming
Greatest ever warning
Heed the signs
It’s nigh, new times have dawned

Curse or chance
To choose our transformation
Choose the light
The inner revolution

Temptation the worst generation
While the mass must feed on dust
Push to get rich shove the others in the ditch
Never gave us peace of mind
Changing the system’s nothing but illusion
Like changing the name of greed
Wake up time let’s get alive, get a life

Somewhere in hearts of Humankind
Don’t be afraid to love yourself and others
Racing through the clouds and skies
Our visions can fly past eternity
Life means in the here and now
Together we can’t fall

Warming warming…..

Jump on the train with the name Free Will
Where hope is the final call
Come rain come shine you can never tell
But connected we can’t fall
Should life be big, should life be small?
The question stares from the palms of our hands
Feel the wheels of life to feel alive

Somewhere in hearts of Humankind
Don’t be afraid to love yourself and others
Racing through the clouds and skies
Our visions can fly past eternity
Life means in the here and now
Together we can’t fall

Somewhere in hearts of Humankind
Don’t be afraid to follow all your dreams
Racing through the clouds and skies
Shoot into space our visions past eternity
Life means in the here and now
Together we can’t fall

Warming warming……

Wake up time let’s get alive, get a life  rpt.

ABOUT INNER REVOLUTION

Happiness is a decision. The darkest moments can be followed by the greatest positive transformations if we keep our fighting spirit alive.

This was a very long-winded song  in terms of production time. I tried to perfect every detail, but oh my god, I got it done finally with a smile on my face. It actually arose out of 2 or 3 quite different ideas that moved on.
